toast

did you know that if you never clean out your toaster that the mountain of crumbs that collect inside it eventually set alight whilst you are toasting some more of the perpetual toat mountain that goes on in this house?
Don't worry nothing burnt, blew up, incinerated or was harmed in any way but man you should have seen the huge pile of crumbs I shook out of that toaster. I could have fed half of Kenya on that stuff.
lots of unimportant stuff going on here, more of the same old, same old but at least the weather is good. I am doing my nieces wedding invites and as usual have left it to the last minute to get them done. Nothing like a deadline to galvanise the spirit!

But in the time honoured fashion of timewasting i give you some pics......

Back from our Hols

We are back. A little more tanned (or red & freckled in my case), a little more worn out and a little more of a closer family than before. The boys love spending time with their Daddy on holiday, I am usually left to do the cooking, cleaning and bathtimes! It makes me realise how little time he gets to spend with them during the week, so I don't mind too much, it's been a long time since it's been the 'me, me, me' show and I like it that way.

Congratulations to Marja and Kirk on the birth of their very cute little girl, Noemie, on the 11th April, I hope all are doing well. Even though Pip is only 1 (well 14 months in 2 days) I couldn't go back to newborn again, not anymore, not with my advanced years. You forget about how tiny and fragile and needy newborn babies are, how exhausting just exisiting can be but also how thrilling.

We have 381 photos of our trip to Eastbourne, home of the Old Dots, many will be discarded in the dustheap that is the 20,000 photos on my hard drive (that I really need to get an external hard drive for) but I am sure that I have some real peaches.

There is so much washing and stuff to do here I must go do it before the baby gets up and Hubby gets back from wherever he went.

not much happening

oh the wonder of paper crafting! (Roman soldiers costume made from construction paper and foil) - this is all paper honestly!

not a lot has gone on this past week or so, Pip is still waking up at ungodly hours and we've had one or two horrific nights. Tiddly and Munch are fine, getting a bit tired as is usual towards the end of a term.

They both had parents evening last night, Munch did really well and we are very pleased with him, Tiddly seems more disruptive in class and less inclined to try very hard. So much so he now has to sit on his own on his own table so he does not distract the other pupils. I think he's so ashamed of this he got very worried and stressed and woke up with a big headache this morning. He's home now, not sounding very ill at all, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and make him work this afternoon.

Had a crop on Sunday which was productive, got some journal pages finished from Pip's year book and started on the journal pages for this years book for all 3 boys. Plus I started this big football mini album for Tiddly which is basically a football record of his day at Luton Town FC.

Munch went to his first proper birthday party whilst being at big school, he had a blast. He also got to take Mr Dog home for the weekend which was fun, although the responsibility got a bit much at times.

I got two lovely Dolly Beads for Mothers Day, not a suprise as I'd stayed up late on Friday night to order them as they went up on the website, it was like a 'virtual' feeding frenzy - as Jaq was loading them up they were being snapped up. Word to the wise - don't take your time choosing - dash & grab, baby, dash & grab.

Haircuts

His first haircut
His haircut turned him into a mad monster
His haircut always takes the longest as he has so much bloody hair!

That is not me cutting their hair. Me, scissors and small boys are not a good combination!

I have an hour to tidy up

so why am i on here?

I have been goofing off for a whole hour, I am an expert in the field of goofing off or as we Brits like to say 'an expert slacker' - it's a field that I perfected whilst working and have successfully carried it over into my non-working life. I could represent my country in it and I am training my oldest son to be an expert as well (he goofs off on Club Penguin and Neopets, whilst I am a successfull craft website slacker).

I now have these (unused but in-waiting)

and I have some of these babies too as an early mothers day present (plus one is a bday pressie for a friend), they look so pretty I could not resist forcing Hubby into buying them from here.

must go scrape some dirt from places downstairs so it looks like i have been busy at some point today :)

2 Layout already, I'm on a roll

It's March and I have already done 2 layouts. Not groundbreaking stuff admittedly, but a step up for me. The things I have managed to avoid whilst doing aforementioned LO's are tons of housework, hoovering and sorting - I think I have my priorities just bang on the nail.
Baby is protesting mightily about being put to bed so I must go and tell him the order of things -

blog first, baby soothing later.

the pursuit of stash

I went to Stamperama this weekend with my friend Ruth, although it catered very much to the cardmakers & stampers of this world there was more than enough there to keep me interested.

I bought what i considered to be a few small purchases but I didn't come home with much change from £40!
In the pic I have also included 3 of the fontwerks notables stamps from Scrapgal and the Purple Onion stamps from Self-Addressed.

Lego fever returns to this house, we are having major lego building sessions at the moment, wi

th the insistence that photos be taken, all because of my scraplift LO - Sam wants 'in' on a Lego themed LO too so I will have to see what I can come up with. (these pics were taken in the morning, early in the morning, hence Munchies tired looking face - he just doesn't do mornings that kid). If you have boys you should let them go onto the Lego.com site to play - it's a great great thing :)

We're Heading for a Crafty Weekend

We collect milk bottles - how cool are we? Milko hates us when we put 10 bottles out all at once, so much so that she only takes 6 of them and leaves the others to their peril on our doorstep. She only comes every other day so they are kicking around for a while, gives them a bit of street experience though, which is always a useful thing to have living where we live. My word you can see empty milk bottles, washing up liquid and cans of beer & beans on the window sill - what is this student digs?????

Church accounts signed and out of here, hurrah! It's a right royal pain, and I am not even a qualified auditor, hell I'm a qualified nothing (half qualified insane but that's nothing to brag about is it?).

Still have a few projects on the go, and as the Church Treasurer was here this morning the house is tidy and relatively clean (well clean has so many meanings don't you think?), I made him wait for half an hour before coming around because the house was such a tip, I said to him when he came 'there is no way I am going to let you see me living in a tip' even thought that is how I live most of my life. 3 boys do not make for a tidy house.

Big consternation this morning in the house when 'meme' was lost, 'meme' being the toy of choice and weapon of mass destruction both at the same time, I do so love the efficiency of that whole deal. 'Meme' could take your eye out at 20 paces and I do believe that Pip's eye was very nearly out on several occasions whilst he was unguarded when i was making the tea. 'Meme' is an elastic band (red) and a large paper clip (stripy) made for Sam by his school friend, said schoolfriend will be throttled next time I see him.

You will also be pleased to note, dear reader, that Pip slept the whole night through last night. Rather, I slept the whole night through. What a breakthrough. Now I have spent the whole day with a nonspecific headache, maybe it's Sky+ at 2am withdrawal symptoms.

I have a Sunday School project to finish (well start & finish) which will consist of paper flowers/straws & plant pots plus a zillion mini albums to make and minipics to print. If Pip sleeps tonight I will do some of them then.

Stamperama is on Sunday at Stevenage, I may go and window shop as I have overspent March already with purchases and prospective purchases but the odd StazOn may slip into my bag (ink pad of choice if only for the aroma).

Pip being pantsless by the washing machine door - his version of heaven.

February Scrapping

can't post my scraplift LO as that is *secret* and I also need to photograph my oddly sized mini album (7.25 x 7) which I have actually got 5 finished LO's in (and as they are >6x6 they count as 'proper'LO's!! woohoo!!!) Will take photos later and post.

Munch has a temp of 38.8 - here we go again, but at least he'll sleep (he'd win any sleeping contests hands down that kid)

Church accounts to check, so I mustn't dawdle....

Someone Stop Me!

I have bought all these stamps from AMLT and Scrapgal, even though I have been banned from spending and told in no uncertain terms that I must wait. But wait I could not and I will take the consequences like the rebel that I am.
I can think of so many uses for them - in layouts, journalling, date books, cards esp bday cards, to make mini-notebooks, for helping to categorise my photos (like Ali E) blah blah blah. I wanted them and I got them enough said.

For the two people who read my blog (thank you Sharon (& Darren)& Jackie) you will be pleased to know that I actually slept last night, as did Pip. I went to bed at 9pm (and read a book til Hubby came up and swiped the book and switched the light off without a word just a glare). I went and brought a sleepy Husband up at 1am as he was on duty on the sofa apparently, then Pip woke at 2:30am but he went back to sleep after a quick feed, he then woke again at 5:15am and I brought him downstairs and watched something on the tv - it was so long ago now I forgot what it was. Pip went back to sleep and I stared at the tv, but as I'd had about 2 sackloads of sleep I was ok.

I have written a list of things I need to do today (I will mark the unachievable ones out - this is how high I set the bar daily)
  • sick letter for Munch to take to school (he was off yesterday)
  • Print Sam project title pages (done)
  • Check Church Accounts (unachievable and really don't want to do them)
  • Scraplift LO
  • Take dry cleaning to cleaners (unachievable they close at noon)
  • Butchers (unachievable I don't want to ring them today)
  • Post office (Judi card & pressie/Next returns)
  • Book Stamperama Tickets (not sure why as I have just bought every stamp onthe planet)
  • Do Pip's Thank You's (half achievable - will design & print during day and write out tonight & post tomorrow)
  • New House card to make
  • Plus all the normal stuff - hoover, tidy, clean bathrooms, prepare dinner, take kids to Sam's footie practise, do bedtime stuff as Hubby is at footie tonight.

It's now 1:45pm as I write this - how much do you think I'll get done? I reckon I'll do none of it and will veg out by the tv eating biscuits!!

Oh yes - this is the hat!

No sleep, no really, NO sleep

I had 3 hours sleep last night when I needed 8, this is the worst I can ever remember even with the other two.
Tiddly used to take about an hour to get to sleep and I had to sit next to his cot til he drfited off and then when he woke in the night I used to go put his dummy back in.
Munch used to wake every 2-3 hours and didn't have a dummy, but he would just snuggle up and go back to sleep ifyou brought him into bed with you.
Pip, from 18 weeks he slept through and I had been luxuriating in this wonderfulness until the end of November last year. Since then I think we've had 2 weeks of sleeping through and varying degrees of waking up that range from once and going back to sleep with a back rub to last night - slept for 3 hours then woke up 10 minutes after I went to bed, then 5 minutes after I put him back after taking him downstairs at 12:30am, 1:30am. I gave up the ghost at 3:30am and just got a blanket and sat in my chair and watched old X-Files on FX. I must have fallen asleep around 4am and woke at 6:30am when Steve was getting up. I am grouchy and miserable and fed up with this.
I know kids sleep problems are the oldest and most boring story in the book but it's spoiling his and my life at the moment and hearing that raspy cry just brings out so many emotions I am not sure where I am :(
I did scrap this weekend though so am feeling good about that, need to do a secret challenge with my UKS team, I am due to post one and had forgotten, so really need to do that today as I have some ideas for once.

One day when I am sane I will post all my recent scrapping work,.

these were my flowers for Valentines, they are still going strong

and this is my poorly little Pip, two weeks ill and a viral rash to boot, he is as fed up of snotty noses as I am.

This is where I have spent most of my week with Pip, can you see my shape outlined permanently into the cushions?
you can see my knitting as well! I finally finished it (although it is completely different to here). Heavens only knows who it will fit, but I am hoping that blocking it will cure a multitude of sins (will post a pic tomorrow)

And now the party

A very busy day but a wonderful way to mark his first year :)

A Year Ago Today - 17th Feb

At 12:05am little Pip made his suprise appearance into the world, all blue and quiet. So many people cared for him that night, all keeping him safe and warm until he was ready to come home.

A year later and here we are with a little boy full of snotty life, chasing his big brothers, always looking for his Mummy, always playing with the washing machine and the catflap in the corner (and we wonder why he is ill this week?)

Life could not have turned out better even if we had planned it (except perhaps for a little more sleep)

Love you Pip xxx

busy with tiny snotty nose

Poor little Pip is really suffering with his first proper full blown cold. I've had some horrendous nights with him, poor little guy, and now he has developed this awful hacking cough. Basically I've had a 20lb baby stuck to my hip for a week. I'd cry too though if I felt as bad as he does. And yeah he's a bit small for an 11 month & 363 day old bab isn't he?

I have rediscovered fontgarden not that I ever lost it, but I haven't had time to mess about with fonts for a while, but I have a sketch challenge LO to finish for Sunday and was trying to find a font for a title. Well I was trying to find a title and couldn't think of one, I was also trying to think of some journalling and couldn't think of anything either, so I thought 'hmmm fontgarden always had really cool quotes to display its fonts, I should look there', so whilst I didn't find a quote I could use for baby journalling, I did find piles of deeply cool fonts. Like this one...

I also like the name of it, slightly unsavoury but almost edgy too.

Anyway it got me out of a hole title wise and font wise, so I am off to hand cut the skizzed font title for my LO and write a bit of journalling.

I have also done some other craft, I've done 2 'ME' journal pages, I've done about 4 baby Pip journal pages, I've made 10 mini albums using Candice Palmers instructions (you must do this it's so easy you could do it in your sleep if you are lucky enough to get some sleep)

I will try and post pics of all my achievements this week, half term week, this week of nintendo ds and Stars Wars Lego on the PC, this week of 'can i have something to eat yet', this week of going beyond play fighting and 'someones going to get hurt', this week of 'can we watch 'Cars/Spongebob/Thunderbirds/other kid movie we've seen a trillion times already'' this week of seeing the bags CZ has knitted and ordering circular needles from ebay.
